Can my security system monitor fire and carbon monoxide?
Yes, with the addition of a monitored smoke, heat, and carbon monoxide detector your security system can detect fire or carbon monoxide and notify the authorities.

Do I get charged for false alarms?
The false alarm policy varies from county to county. Most counties do charge for false alarms. A false alarm means the authorities were dispatched to the home. Leon County currently gives three false alarms a year before they will issue a citation.

Do I have to have a phone line to have a monitored security system?
A phone line is not necessary to have a monitored security system. However, it is the most common way security systems are monitored. Today many people have resulted to a cell phone. Monitoring is available through cell devices or radio frequency devices. Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) technology is an up and coming feature today. It is also possible to use this technology for monitoring.

Do I have to sign a long term monitoring contract?
Hi-Tech is one of the few companies in the industry that will not only allow the customer to sign shorter term contracts. We also offer monitoring on a month to month basis and stand alone systems with no monitoring.

Do I own the equipment?
Yes, once the system is installed the customer owns it. Hi-Tech does not use any finance companies or outside agencies in which your alarm agreements are sold to.

Does Hi-Tech own their monitoring station?
Hi-Tech does not own its monitoring station at this time. As with the majority of small alarm companies Hi-Tech utilizes a UL listed central monitoring station, that’s sole responsibility is to monitor accounts for small companies such as Hi-Tech. This is actually a plus for the customer as it allows us to concentrate on the installation and service of our accounts.

How loud is a siren?
A siren is designed as a deterrent. It alerts the people in the home and lets the intruder know they have been detected. It is not designed for the neighbor to hear, though, if conditions are right it possible for them to hear it. If this is what you are looking for, we do offer exterior sirens and strobe lights to help let neighbors and authorities know there is a problem.

What if my power goes out in my home?
All of our alarm systems are equipped with a back up battery, which allow you to still have security in the event of power failure in the home. The size of your system will determine how long the back up power will last in your home.
