other low-voltage wiring throughout the structure.

Can I wire for more than I need?
Yes, in fact we recommend it! You should not only wire for the needs you have now, but anything you think you may need in the future as well. There is always new technology you may wish to have in the future. Wiring for additional options will also help the resale value of your home if you decide to sell it in the future.

Can other equipment be installed in my enclosure?
Yes, these enclosures are designed to hold other pieces of equipment such as routers, modems, power supplies, and surge protectors to name a few.

How big is a structured wiring enclosure?
Enclosures range from 6” to 54” in height and are generally 12-14.5” wide. Hi-Tech will provide an enclosure that will fit your needs based on the amount of cabling and equipment you intend to put in your home.

How many phone and coax lines can I have?
Hi-Tech can provide as many lines as you wish to have in the home. We recommend at least 1 phone and 1 coax per bedroom and kitchen as well as 2 phones and 2 coaxes per living area.

What type of wire is used in structured wiring?
Typically a RG-6 Coax cable is used for the cable television or satellite in a home. For the Data or phone lines in a home Cat 5e or Cat 6 is normally used.

Where is the enclosure installed in the home?
Structured wiring enclosures may be installed almost anywhere in the home. Ideally they should be in a climate controlled area that is out of the way of the everyday activities in the home, but easily accessible if in need of service.
